Dante Now!
The University of Notre Dame Rome Global Gateway and the Villa open their gates to neighbors and passers-by with an invitation to participate in Dante Now!, a celebration of the poet Dante and the Divine Comedy in performance which has been a tradition on campus since 2012, on a football Friday crowded with visitors and fans coming from all over the US.
Notre Dame students, faculty, and staff in Rome and their guests will join the event live for the first time this year: through this initiative Notre Dame aims at contributing to the rich cultural life of the Celio and fostering the integration of the university
community into the larger community of the neighborhood which is its home at the heart of Rome.
Departing from the Villa's amphitheater the choral readings from Dante's Comedìa will follow an itinerary through the Celio neighborhood in front of the basilicas of St Clemente, Ss. Quattro Coronati and the Navicella (Santa Maria in Domnica) and back to the Villa for the last reading from Paradiso XXXIII, the prayer to the Virgin, in front of the Madonnella. The readings will be joined by a class of elementary school children.
The event will culminate with a public lecture by Prof. Christian Moevs (Notre Dame) broadcast live from campus and will end with light refreshments.

Il Notre Dame Rome Global Gateway e la Villa aprono la porta a vicini e passanti con un caloroso invito a partecipare a Dante Now! per celebrare Dante con un pomeriggio di letture itineranti dalla Divina Commedia. Dante Now! è sin dal 2012 una tradizione che si ripete in un venerdì di settembre alla vigilia di una partita di fooball in cui i Fighting Irish giocano in casa e il campus è affollato di visitatori e tifosi provenienti da tutti gli Stati Uniti.
Quest'anno per la prima volta l'Università di Notre Dame a Roma e gli ospiti che vorranno unirsi parteciperanno in videoconferenza live, a questo evento: attraverso questa iniziativa Notre Dame aspira a contribuire alla ricca vita culturale del Celio, e ad incoraggiare l'integrazione della comunità universitaria di studenti, docenti e staff dedicato all'interno della più ampia comunità del quartiere che la ospita nel cuore di Roma.
A partire dall'anfiteatro della villa, le letture corali da Inferno e Purgatorio seguiranno un itinerario attraverso i luoghi storici del Celio: le basiliche di S. Clemente, SS. Quattro Coronati e Santa Maria in Domnica (la Navicella) per concludersi con la preghiera alla Vergine del canto XXXIII del Paradiso di fronte alla Madonnella all'angolo della Villa. Una classe di bambini di quarta e quinta elementare parteciperà alla manifestazione che culminerà in una lezione pubblica del Professor Christian Moevs (Notre Dame) in videoconferenza con il campus e si concluderà con un piccolo rinfresco.
