Pontificia Università S. Tommaso D'Aquino - Angelicum

Studenti Small

The Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Pontificia Università S. Tommaso d'Aquino in Urbe), popularly known as “the ANGELICVM” is an international Dominican center of learning in the historic center of Rome. The university has faculties of Theology, Philosophy, Canon Law, and Social Sciences, along with a Higher Institute of Religious Sciences, Mater Ecclesiae.

The foundation of the Angelicum goes back to the XIII century (1265) medieval Dominican house of studies in Rome (at Santa Sabina), where St. Thomas Aquinas taught friars in formation towards the priesthood. Among the Angelicum’s distinguished alumni are fr. Karol Józef Wojtyła (Pope St. John Paul II), the Ven. Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, fr. Servais-Théodore Pinckaers OP, fr. Réginald Marie Garrigou-Lagrange OP, and fr. Wojciech Giertych OP (currently teaching). The same classrooms where they studied are still in daily use by our 1,200 professors and students coming from over 90 countries. The university offers education in Italian and English.
