The History of the Russian Revolution: Failed Empire and Her Restless Colonies
The workshop will reflect the impact on the study of the Russian Revolution resulted from the collapse of the Soviet empire and the rise of post-Soviet Russian Eurasian empire, culminating in the first full-scale military conflict in Europe since 1945. The proposed international will also exemplify and help promote mutual understanding and dialogue, highlighting the new opportunities for collaboration between US-based, European, Middle Eastern, Ukrainian, and Russian historians as we approach the 108th anniversary of Russia's great (yet failed) revolution and the disintegration of the largest landlocked empire in history. Consistent with the established practice, the convener plans to publish the final presentations in a special issue of a reputable peer-reviewed international journal by the end of 2025 (and no later than the first quarter of 2026).
