Daniel Kraemer is a junior Economics major with minors in Sustainability and Italian. On campus, Kraemer is heavily involved in his dorm, Keenan hall, being on Head Staff for Keenan Revue and Vice President last semester. This semester, he is in Rome with the Rome International Scholars program which entails an immersive homestay, an internship, an independent research project, and classes at an Italian university.

Mary Quirk is in the eternal city as part of the first year of the Arts & Letters' Pizzo Family Scholars Program, and with a team of five other undergraduate assistants is part of research with Professor Christian Smith to investigate cultural change and its implications for religious obsolescence.

As fellows, Kraemer and Quirk are working on two joint projects. Their projects are about encouraging students to be aware of their carbon footprint when deciding what trips to do and creating a small recipe book that includes local and vegetarian meals on a student's budget. Quirk has been having an enriching time working with his peer fellow to investigate travel, food, and all things sustainable in Rome.

The two hope to be able to provide resources for future study abroad students to help them live well in Rome and connect with the place and people in a healthier way
