ND Rome hosts “Il Giubileo e Roma immaginata nel mondo – The Jubilee: The Image of Rome in the World”

On October 13, 2025 Notre Dame Rome will host the conference Rome and the Jubilees, 1300–2025, concluding at 4:00 p.m. with an open conversation between the Capitoline Superintendent Claudio Parisi Presicce and the Director of the Vatican Museums, Barbara Jatta.

Notre Dame Rome announces that on October 13, 2025, it will host Rome and the Jubilees, 1300–2025, an international day of study and dialogue dedicated to the historical, cultural, and spiritual significance of the Jubilees and their impact on the image of Rome throughout the world.

The program will open at 2:30 p.m. with a roundtable featuring scholars and experts from the University of Notre Dame across various disciplines. Speakers include:

• Prof. Daria Borghese, “What is a Jubilee”

• Prof. Chiara Sbordoni, “Medieval Jubilees, 1300–1425”

• Prof. Paolo Vitti, “Christianity and Archaeology in the Bronze Doors for the 1450 Jubilee”

• Prof. Andrea Moudarres, “Renaissance Jubilees, 1450–1550”

• Prof. Ingrid Rowland, “Baroque Jubilees, 1600–1700”

• Prof. Selena Anders, “The Jubilees of Eighteenth-Century Rome”

• and concluding remarks by Prof. Mari Yoko Hara.

At 4:00 p.m., the public event “Il Giubileo e Roma immaginata nel mondo – The Jubilee: The Image of Rome in the World” will take place, bringing together two leading voices representing the dual heritage of the Jubilee and the city: Barbara Jatta, Director of the Vatican Museums, and Claudio Parisi Presicce, Capitoline Superintendent of Cultural Heritage.

The conversation will be open to the public upon registration at ndrome-events.com and will also be live-streamed online with simultaneous interpretation available via Zoom.
