Taka Sakaue is an associate professor at the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, University of Notre Dame. Prior to this, he was a researcher at Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). Dr. Sakaue received his MS and PhD degrees from School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Purdue University, in 1999 and 2003, respectively. With an interdisciplinary study on fluid mechanics and chemistry, Dr. Sakaue has two columns of research topics: luminescent imaging and chemical flow control. The former uses a nano-structured sensor that acquires chemical or physical quantities as time-resolved imaging. It has been applied to study unsteady flows, high-speed flows, and environmental flows. The latter uses functional chemicals to control a flow or control a moving object in a flow. It has been applied to aircraft icing, drag reduction, and noise reduction studies.
