Sergio Pirozzoli

Engineering

Sergio Pirozzoli is professor of Fluid Mechanics at Sapienza University of Rome. During his career he has made contributions to the numerical study of turbulent flows by developing novel high-fidelity dedicated numerical methods to fully exploit the capabilities of modern supercomputers. In 2011 he was invited to write a review paper on "Numerical Methods for High-Speed Flows" for the Annual Review of Fluid Mechanics. In 2016 he was elected Fellow of the American Physical Society-Division of Fluid Dynamics with mention of his work on high-speed flows. He is associate editor of the Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Theoretical and Computational Fluid Dynamics and Computers in Fluids. He is the chair of the Sapienza PhD program in Aerospace Engineering.
