Byron and 'The Cult of the South

Byron was arguably the most famous and important European poet of the early nineteenth century, and 2024 will mark the bicentennial of his death. Various types of Byron events are now being planned for 2024 (including the opening of the Museo Byron in Ravenna on the site, Palazzo Guicciolli, where Byron lived for a number of years), but no word has yet emerged about a conference in Europe to mark this important bicentennial year. This conference will specifically feature new scholarly approaches to Byron's life, poetry, and revolutionary political activism during his Italian years.
