Art Seeking Understanding: Sacred Art's Impact on Viewers

Location: Notre Dame Rome

This two-day, interdisciplinary and international gathering of scholars from the fields of psychology, neuroscience, theology, art history, music, film studies, and religious studies will address the question of how encounters with sacred art impacts its viewers or audiences. The conference’s will assemble research teams, composed of scientists, humanists, artists, and theologians to describe the genesis and development of their projects, share their methodologies and tools, and disseminate the results of their research. Research projects include studies of the role of the visual arts, film, architecture, and music on spiritual cognition.
